Distinguished guests,

It is a great pleasure for me to be here this evening on the occasion of the iftar dinner being hosted by our Consulate General.

Let me express that this meeting is a clear indication of the solidaritywhich is very important for understanding the meaning of the holy month Ramadan. As you know, it is a time of spiritual renewal, peaceful reflection and prayer. It is a time for acts of compassion and charity.

Ramadan provides the perfect opportunity for the Muslim world to bring together the members of the society we live in.

Turkish and Egyptian people have strong ties with 500 years of common history and coexistence. Further to this special relations between our people, I especially made an effort to see the Egyptian businessmen tonight among us, who continue to show their affinity and hospitality towards our Consulate General in this period.

I, hereby, would like to seize this opportunity to express gratitude to our Egyptian brothers who would honour us with their attendance to our iftar dinner. I am very glad to share our modest iftar table with you.
